These Valentine’s Day M&M Cookies are the sweetest way to show someone you love them this Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s Day. In fact, you can use regular M&M’s and drop the heart cookie cutter and make these any time of the year. This is the same Easy Sugar Cookie recipe I use to bake my Christmas cookies every year, except I just added white chocolate chips and M&M’s.

My husband, five year old daughter, and I had so much fun making these festive heart cookies this weekend. My daughter is just like me and LOVES to bake and cook. These cookies are so fun and they do expand while baking so make sure to space them apart on the baking sheet.

My mouthwatering Valentine’s Day M&M Cookies contain all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, butter, granulated sugar, egg, vanilla, white chocolate chips, and Valentine’s Day M&M’s and are done in less than 25 minutes!

Ingredients in Valentine’s Day M&M Cookies

All-purpose flour. Use unbleached all-purpose flour if you can although bleached flour will work too.

Baking soda. Baking soda is a leavening agent needed to help the dough rise.

Baking powder. Baking powder helps the cookie dough spread and puff out.

Salt. Salt, according to Salt in Baking’s post, adds flavor and helps strengthen the dough which is important to reach the best texture. Salt also brings out the flavors of the remaining ingredients.

Butter. You can use either salted or unsalted butter. Butter adds a rich, creamy flavor to these sugar cookies.

Granulated sugar. Granulated sugar sweetens up the cookies and gives them their name: sugar cookies.

Egg. Like baking soda, an egg provides leavening as well as adds taste and structure. Eggs bind all the ingredients together so they don’t fall apart.

Vanilla. Vanilla enhances all the ingredients, providing a sweet taste.

White chocolate chips. For best results, use Ghiradelli white chocolate chips.

Plain M&M’s. Buy these red/pink/white Valentine’s Day plain M&M candies for this cookie recipe.

How to make the best Valentine’s Day M&M Cookies

STEP 1: Preheat oven to 375° F/190° C. In a medium bowl, stir the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together; set aside.

STEP 2: In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the butter and sugar until smooth. Add the egg and beat it to combine. Add the vanilla and beat to combine all ingredients. Slowly add the dry ingredients and use a wooden spoon to mix everything together until smooth.

STEP 3: Stir in the white chocolate chips. We love these Ghiradelli white chocolate chips!

STEP 4: Use heart cookie cutters or roll into two-tablespoon-sized balls. Place on ungreased or parchment paper-lined baking sheets. Gently press the M&M’s into the tops of the cookies.
