This cheap paper kid’s craft takes the cake on “EASY” Valentine’s Day crafts for toddlers and preschool-aged kids! It’s quick and it’s simple and sometimes both are all us parents need to distract our kids for a few minutes. Kids love animals and this Doilie Mouse is no exception! My toddler loves the fact that crafts such as these have eyes. She loves playing with the plastic eyes and pipe cleaner tail.

This is a wonderful fine motor activity for toddlers and young kids and is the perfect winter craft at daycare, homeschool, in preschool, and kindergarten. Even older grade school children enjoy this fun and festive Valentine’s Day craft.

Items needed to make a Valentine’s Day Doilie Mouse

Doilie. You’ll need a heart shaped doilie for this craft. I found some at Walmart but my local Dollar Tree also carries doilies.

School glue. School glue is used to stick the pieces together.

Plastic eyes. We used large plastic eyes or googly eyes although any size will work.

Pink construction paper. Pink construction paper is needed to make the pink heart ear.

Pen. You’ll need a pen or pencil to draw the heart on the pink construction paper before cutting.

Marker. A marker or highlighter is helpful to wrap the pipe cleaner.

Red pipe cleaner. A red pipe cleaner is needed for the tail.

Stapler. Use a stapler to staple the pipe cleaner to the doilie as the glue is too weak to hold the pipe cleaner.

Heart sticker. One heart sticker is needed for the nose.

How to Make the Best Valentine’s Day Doilie Mouse

1). Fold the doilie heart in half as shown in the post.

2). Draw a heart on a piece of pink construction paper. Cut the heart out. Use school glue to glue it in between the doilie.

3). Glue the eye on to the mouse.

4). Use a marker or highlighter to twirl the pipe cleaner, as shown in the post. Once it’s twirled, staple it to the bottom backside of the mouse as its tail.

5). Stick the red heart sticker on the tip of the mouse as its nose.
