I’ve never been one to turn down s’mores. I don’t discriminate when it comes to them; in fact, I’ll eat them in any shape, way, or form! S’mores aren’t just for campfires – s’mores are for every month and every season at my house! The crunchy-sweet combo of graham crackers, ooey-gooey warm marshmallows, and mouthwatering chocolate is one of my favorite combination of ingredients, kind of like peanut butter and chocolate. If you’re a s’mores lover, then you’ll swoon over my Sheet Pan S’mores, S’mores Snack Mix, and S’mores Bark!

I love this recipe because instead of Rice Krispies cereal, it contains Golden Grahams cereal. Although it may sound strange, I promise you the graham cracker taste of the Golden Grahams really MAKES this dessert! This easy dessert recipe contains just the right amounts of Golden Grahams cereal, butter, mini marshmallows, and Hershey’s milk chocolate bars.

My favorite kind of desserts are easy NO BAKE desserts like this one. How often do you make a dessert that requires NO BAKING? Not only that, but it’s super quick to make and is done in only 15 minutes, making it the perfect dessert recipe for the person who doesn’t have much time to spare.

Where did s’mores originate?

As far as we know, s’mores was first mentioned in a 1927 issue of the Girl Scout Manual titled, “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts.” According to Quartz’s article, because so many thought the campfire snack was totally addicting, it was aptly named “Some More,” as people constantly craved for more!

Ingredients in S’mores Krispie Treats

Golden Grahams cereal. Similar to graham crackers, Golden Grahams cereal give this recipe a graham crackery crunch.

Butter. Unsalted or salted butter will work with the marshmallows to bind the cereal pieces.

Mini marshmallows. Mini marshmallows are an integral part of s’mores.

Hershey’s milk chocolate bars. Just like regular ol’ s’mores, use Hershey’s milk chocolate bars.

How to make the best S’mores Krispie Treats

STEP 1: Coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

STEP 2: Pour the cereal into a large bowl.

STEP 3: Break apart the Hershey bars into individual squares.

STEP 4: In a large pot over low-medium heat, melt the butter and all the mini marshmallows except for 1 cup to reserve. Stir until it’s melted and smooth. Make sure to stir frequently until the mixture has melted. Remove from heat.

STEP 5: Pour the marshmallow mixture into the bowl with the cereal. Add the remaining 1 cup mini marshmallows and stir until well combined.

STEP 6: Press half the cereal and marshmallow mixture into the prepared dish. Sprinkle half of the Hershey bar pieces on top. Evenly spread the remainder of the Golden Graham cereal on top. This will be messy. I prefer to spray my fingers with nonstick cooking spray to evenly spread out the mixture.

STEP 7: Press the remaining half of the Hershey bars into the mixture. Enjoy!
