Looking for a new game day appetizer? This one is awesome, especially because it’s not the typical Pigs in a Blanket recipe that uses hot dogs. This recipe uses little weenies (also known as lil smokies). They’re the greatest appetizer for game day or a party as they’re easy, handheld bites that you can grab and walk with. Not only are they great for any type of party, but they make a perfect Christmas appetizer! Dip them in your favorite hot dog toppings for the best flavor combo! If you like these handheld beef finger foods, then you will love my Cheesy Pizza Taco Sticks that are stuffed with seasoned ground beef and cheese!
With only 2 ingredients, this one is the epitome of simple and easy! These little weenies are so versatile as there are numerous ways to cook and eat them. You can also place two to three packages of little weenies in a crock pot or slow cooker and add a bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce for an easy party appetizer! My husband and toddler enjoy every delicious bite of these little piggies and love dipping them in ketchup and mustard.
Oftentimes, I buy larger packages of little weenies and reserve the rest for future meals. If you’re making this it’s easiest to buy the 14-ounce packages of little weenies, but of course you can always buy more.
My simple Pigs in a Blanket recipe contains just 2 ingredients: one package of little weenies and two rolls of refrigerated Crescent dough such as Pillsbury, and are done in less than 25 minutes, from start to finish. I love easy, simple, and quick appetizer recipes like this one!
Ingredients in Pigs in a Blanket
Little weenies. Little weenies are made by Hillshire Farm and are typically found near the lunchmeat section, in the refrigerator.
Crescent rolls. You can find Pillsbury brand Crescent rolls in the refrigerated section of most grocery stores. Oftentimes, you can buy generic brand Crescent Rolls in the grocery store or in big box retailers such as Walmart. If you live outside the United States, you may not have this product and instead, I would use biscuit dough. Just roll the dough out and cut it into triangles large enough to wrap around a little weenie and you should be good.
What do I serve with Pigs in a Blanket?
We love dipping our pigs in ketchup, my homemade ranch dressing, and fry sauce! You can dip your pigs in a blanket in any dip you like, even mustard!
