I was super excited to make these Chocolate Covered Oreo Truffles as one of our family treats this holiday season. These sweet bites are insanely addicting and my family, friends, and neighbors can’t ever get enough of them! The recipe below is for chocolate covered Oreo truffles; however, you can make different variations by using white chocolate or vanilla almond bark instead of semi-sweet chocolate. Although I typically make these for the holiday season, you can omit the Christmas colored sprinkles and toppings and they can be served year round.

If you love making candy, then you’ll adore my Peanut Butter Fudge, Reindeer Pretzels, 3-Ingredient Rolo Pretzel Holiday Bites, Peanut Butter Balls, Easy Almond Roca, Homemade 100 Grand Candy Bars, 3-Ingredient Twix Bites, Oreo Dirt Cups, Fudge, and Caramel Apple Pretzel Bites recipes!

My mouthwatering Oreo Truffle recipe contains Oreo cookies, cream cheese, semi-sweet baking chocolate, and optional toppings such as crushed peppermint candy canes, Christmas sprinkles, and so forth.

Pin this now to save for later!

In fact, I split it down the middle and used 8 ounces of white baking chocolate and 8 ounces of semi-sweet baking chocolate to make my batch. My husband loves white chocolate and peppermint, so I made half white chocolate peppermint, and the other half is the normal chocolate covered recipe. I lean more towards semi-sweet and dark chocolate myself.

These are SO SO SO delicious! Let me know if you make them and enjoy them as much as we do. This is one of my most popular Pinterest pins! Store these in the freezer for a cooler taste.

Ingredients in Oreo Truffles

Oreo cookies. Regular Oreo cookies are used to give the Oreo flavor to the truffles.

Cream cheese. Softened full fat cream cheese is the best type of cream cheese. Don’t skimp and use low-fat or nonfat cream cheese as this recipe will not work.

Semi-sweet baking chocolate. You can use baking chocolate or almond bark. This is our favorite baking chocolate.

Candy canes. Optional toppings include crushed candy canes, Christmas sprinkles, chopped nuts, and so on.

How to make the best Oreo Truffles

STEP 1: Place the cookies in a food processor or blender and pulse a few seconds at a time until the cookies are fine crumbs.

STEP 2: In a large mixing bowl, use a potato masher (a whisk would work too) to mash the mixture. Add the softened cream cheese and continue to use the masher to mash it together until thoroughly combined. Continue to mix until all ingredients are completely blended together.

STEP 3: Shape into one-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper or on smaller plates if less freezer room. Freeze for 10 minutes.

STEP 4: While they freeze, melt the chocolate in the microwave for one minute. Stir and then place back in microwave for 15-20 second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted.

STEP 5: Remove the balls from the freezer and use a spoon or fork to dip them in the melted chocolate, tapping off excess. Place each chocolate covered ball on the lined baking sheet. Immediately pour sprinkles, nuts, or crushed candy canes on top as they will dry very quickly.

STEP 6: Refrigerate for 1 hour and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. You can store for up to 3 months in the freezer.

STEP 7: If you make this recipe, don’t forget to leave a rating and comment!
