Ingredients in Mini Cinnamon Rolls

Pillsbury Crescent Rolls. Use Pillsbury Crescent Roll sheets or perforated Crescent Rolls. If you use the perforated rolls, be sure to pinch all the perforations together to make one cohesive sheet of dough. If you live outside the U.S., you likely can’t find Pillsbury Crescent sheets/rolls. You can definitely sub with biscuit dough of any type. Make sure to roll it out into a sheet as shown in the photo below.

Butter. Creamy melted butter gives these rolls flavor and adds taste to the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Brown sugar. Packed brown sugar combines with butter and cinnamon to give these rolls a sweet taste.

Ground cinnamon. Cinnamon gives these rolls the “cinnamon roll” flavor as well as some spice. If you aren’t a huge fan of cinnamon, half the amount and only use ½ tablespoon.

Salt. Just a pinch of salt is all that’s needed to give the recipe a savory flavor.

Powdered sugar. Powdered sugar or confectioners sugar is the frosting’s main ingredient.

Milk. Use any kind of milk you wish. We always use 1% organic milk. The higher the fat content, the creamier the frosting will be.

Vanilla. Vanilla is used to sweeten the frosting. It is okay to use imitation vanilla extract although pure vanilla extract will taste better.

How to Make the Best Mini Cinnamon Rolls

STEP 1: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 350° F/ 175° C.

STEP 2: Turn the dough out onto the parchment paper and flatten it by gently pulling the edges. If your dough is perforated, make sure to pinch the perforations to make one sheet of dough.

STEP 3: Pour the melted butter evenly over the dough. Use a pastry brush or spoon to spread it evenly.

STEP 4: Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar on top, followed by the cinnamon, then the salt.

STEP 5: Starting with the long side, begin rolling the dough up. Use both hands to keep it as even as possible.

STEP 6: Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into 1 inch pieces, making 16 total. Place each piece on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they’re about 1.5 inches apart. They will grow in the oven.

STEP 7: Bake for 11-15 minutes, until the edges are golden.

STEP 8: While your rolls are baking, add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to a bowl and whisk the ingredients. Either drizzle the frosting on top or use it as a dipping sauce for your cinnamon rolls.

STEP 9: If you make this recipe, don’t forget to leave a rating and comment!
