Do you think just because you’re on a keto or low carb diet that you cannot have bagels?! Think again because you CAN HAVE bagels with cream cheese while eating a low carb diet! These bagels aren’t just any bagel—they’re delicious gluten free and low carb bagels with just 6 grams net carbs and over 18 grams of protein per serving! When my husband and I are following a low carb or keto diet, we live off these insanely delicious bagels! These bagels make such a wonderful, handheld breakfast, and we all know that when following a keto diet, there aren't too many handheld foods like this one (which makes this one such a treat!). If you like low carb keto recipes, you'll love my gluten free low carb 90-Second Keto Bread recipe!

Bagels and cream cheese are my favorite breakfast item. I’m always trying to lose weight so I never buy bagels and we rarely ever buy them while eating out because well, we rarely eat out. There's nothing like a homemade bagel sprinkled with everything bagel seasoning, toasted to crispy perfection, and topped with cream cheese - the perfect keto breakfast in my opinion!

I’ve lost weight enough to know that bagels and cream cheese are my nemesis and to avoid them entirely. Well, I have some happy news because these keto bagels are not only delicious, but much healthier than any bread or bagel product you can buy at any supermarket. Top them with cream cheese, butter, or your favorite nut butter for the best flavor combinations.

Ingredients in Keto Bagels

Keto bagels are SUPER EASY to make and only contain eight ingredients! They’re wholesome and tasty and with cream cheese on top, make the perfect low carb breakfast! The bagels are made of:

How to make the best Keto Bagels

STEP 1: Mix the almond flour, baking powder, pepper, garlic powder, and salt.

STEP 2: Melt the mozzarella and cream cheese in a separate, microwave-safe bowl.

STEP 3: Combine the cheese mixture with the almond flour mixture.

STEP 4: Stir in the eggs.

STEP 5: Knead the dough with your hands. As you continue kneading, the cheese will cool, making the dough easier to work with.

STEP 6: Turn the dough out on a parchment paper-lined surface.

STEP 7: Flatten the sticky dough with your hands or roll the dough into a ball.

STEP 8: Pour the dough into the donut pan.

STEP 9: Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top or another topping of your choice.

STEP 10: Bake in the oven until golden and crispy.

Optional Bagel Flavors

Where can I buy everything bagel seasoning?

You can buy it at Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, and the grocery store. I have not bought this at Target although they may sell it. I have bought this everything bagel seasoning at Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, and my local Smith’s grocery store (which is Kroger).

Bagel Ideas

So many ideas pop into my head when I make keto bread or bagels! You can do many things with these amazing low carb bagels. We love cream cheese on top or using the bagel as a bagel-wich sandwich. Using it for a pizza is fun too, especially for toddlers and kids who want pizza for dinner, but all you want is a keto bagel sandwich.

Instructions

  • Spray a donut pan with cooking spray and preheat the oven to 425° F.
  • In a bowl, mix the almond flour, baking powder, pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, add the mozzarella and cream cheese and heat in a microwave safe bowl on high for 1 minute. If it’s not melted after 1 minute, place it in the microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted. Add the mixed and melted cheese mixture to the dry almond flour mixture. Stir in the eggs. Use your hands to knead the dough. You will have to work quickly as the cheese won’t stay melted for long. As the cheese cools, the dough will start to form.
  • Turn the dough out on a surface lined with parchment paper. Flatten the sticky dough with your hands or roll the dough into a ball. Use your hands to add the dough to the prepared pan. Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top and bake in the oven for 13-15 minutes, or until golden. Serve with cream cheese, or as a sandwich, or a pizza.
