Feel free to get creative and use different colors of paint and paper! I let my four year old pick out the paint colors and we went to work making these crafty cards for both nanas and two aunties. Why Should I Make an Easy DIY Handmade Mother’s Day Card?

Kids grow so fast! I love documenting my toddler’s hand and foot print growth with handprint crafts such as these. All my life, my parents have told me they love nothing more than my handmade cards, so there you have it! Moms and dads adore these thoughtful DIY cards. As if anyone really needs a reason to make an adorable keepsake like this?!

Tips on How to Make the Best Mother’s Day Card:

Make sure the paint dries before proceeding to the next step. It can get messy if you aren’t careful. When you paint your child’s hand, make sure to coat it well in paint. When you press their hand down on the folded paper, make sure it’s towards the top of the card, leaving room for the stem/leaves below. Also, when you go to lift their painted hand, make sure to lift straight up to avoid smudging the paint. Let fully dry before advancing to the next step.

I always save those annoying ads that come in the mail because they come in handy every time we have a craft and or painting project (as you can see!). We always paint on newspaper mailers and ads. Why buy a craft mat when you can recycle old mail that would otherwise end up in the trash?

Who are These Cards Best for?

Preschool, daycare centers, homeschool, kindergarten, or elementary / grade school. These are ideal for babies, toddlers, and young children. They make a fun and easy daycare or homeschool activity too!
