Want to make dad a handmade card for Father’s Day? Skip buying dad a card at the store because we all know he would MUCH RATHER receive a homemade one from the little ones (at least my dad always tells me he prefers handmade cards as opposed to store-bought ones and as a parent, I must admit I feel the same way)! Get ready to look at seven easy-to-create Father’s Day cards for dad this June! Included below are easy step-by-step guides on how to make each of the cards.

Pin this now to save for later!

Card #1: World’s Best Dad; Hands Down!

A fun card to make and involves painting your child’s hand with some washable paint. We used acrylic, but it washed right off with warm water and constant wiping. You can use acrylic paints if you like, but if you need to go shopping for the paint, I recommend the non-toxic and washable Crayola paints.

All you need to make this card is a piece of white paper, paint (color of your choice), and a marker.

How to make the best World’s Best Dad; Hands Down! card

STEP 1: Paint the child’s hands and place them upside-down on a piece of white paper. Make sure to place the hands in the center, leaving room on top and bottom.

STEP 2: After the paint has dried, use a black marker to write: “World’s Best Dad Hands Down” on top of the handprints. Beneath the handprints, use the black marker to write: “Happy Father’s Day!”

Card #2: Donut Know What I’d Do Without a Dad Like You!

Who doesn’t like donuts?! Well, turn the love for donuts into an easy-to-make Father’s Day card that dad will surely love! You can even pair it with a box of donuts for dad on HIS day if you really want to see him smile! This is easy to make as all you need is some paper and pens that you likely already have lying around the house.

How to make the best Donut Know What I’d Do Without a Dad Like You! card

STEP 1: Trace a large coffee cup or other circular object over a piece of brown construction paper. Fold the white piece of paper in half.

STEP 2: Use scissors to cut out the brown circular piece of paper. This will be the outer shape of the donut.

STEP 3: Trace a smaller circular object to make a center of a donut. Cut the circle out.

STEP 4: Cut a circular piece of pink construction paper, making it small enough to fit into the center edge of the donut. Use a glue stick to stick the pink paper onto the brown cut donut.

STEP 5: Use a glue stick to glue the donut on the piece of paper, leaving room above and beneath it to write.

STEP 6: Use different colors of markers to make sprinkles all over the donut.

STEP 7: Use a black marker to write: “DONUT Know What I’d Do” above the donut, writing: “without a dad like you!” beneath the donut.

Card #3: You’re One in a Minion, Daddy!

Charm a Despicable-me loving dad out there with this cute minion card this Father’s Day! It’s a cute and funny way to say Happy Father’s Day! Minimal materials are needed as it’s made of construction paper, a glue stick, and a black Sharpie pen. If he knows Gru, he’ll love this one!

How to make the best You’re One in a Minion, Daddy! card

STEP 1: Fold a cream colored or white piece of paper in half.

STEP 2: Use a pen to draw a yellow shaped head and small, long arms. Use scissors to cut them out.

STEP 3: Use a pen to draw a box shape and a small rectangular piece with diagonal slits, for the overalls.

STEP 4: Use a pen to draw a heart on a pink piece of paper. Cut it out with scissors.

STEP 5: Trace a small circular object over a white or cream colored piece of paper. Cut the small cream colored shape out.

STEP 6: Using the black paper, cut out small hands, shoes, 2 small rectangles for the sides of the headband, as well as a tiny black circle for the center of the eye.

STEP 7: Leaving space at the top, use a glue stick to stick the yellow head on the center of the card, leaving room to draw hair. Glue the blue overall shape over the yellow head. Glue the two yellow arms over the blue overalls, as seen in the post. Glue the black hands over the arms and the shoes over the bottom of the overalls. Glue the pink heart over the front of the overalls.

Glue the 2 small black rectangles about ¼ of the way down from the top of the head. Use a glue stick to glue the white circle onto the black circle to form the eye. With a glue stick, place and stick the eye between the two black rectangles.

Use a black marker to draw hair and a smile.

Above the head, use a black marker to write: “You’re one in a minion, daddy!”

Card #4: Daddy…You’re One in a Melon!

Does dad like watermelon? This is another card that’s inexpensive and easy to make! Summer is approaching which means lots of barbecues and watermelon, so if your father enjoys watermelon, make him this easy card with red, green, and white paper, scissors, a glue stick, and a black marker. Super EASY even for the most uncreative types!

How to make the best Daddy…You’re One in a Melon! card

STEP 1: Fold a piece of white paper in half.

STEP 2: Use a pen to draw a half circle on a piece of green construction paper, making it about 1-inch thick. Use scissors to cut it out.

STEP 3: Use a pen to draw a circle on a piece of red construction paper, making it small enough to fit inside the green piece. Use scissors to cut it out.

STEP 4: Use a black marker to draw seeds on the red paper.

STEP 5: Use a black marker to write: “DADDY…” on the top of the card.

STEP 6: Use a glue stick to stick the green cut shape on the center of the card, gluing the red piece inside it, as shown in the post.

STEP 7: Use a black marker to write: “You’re one in a melon!” on the bottom of the card.

Card #5: My Dad Is a Catch!

If dad’s a baseball or softball fan or coach, this card may be right up his alley! I know a lot of dads, mine included, who are huge baseball fans and would enjoy receiving this card! All you need is some brown cardstock or paper, a piece of white paper cut into a circle, a glue stick, and a red and black marker. You’ll need scissors to cut the glove and ball out of paper.

How to make the best My Dad is a Catch! card

STEP 1: Use a pen to draw a mitt shape on a piece of brown cardstock. Use scissors to cut it out.

STEP 2: Use a pen to trace the bottom of a cup over a piece of white paper to make the baseball. Use scissors to cut out the baseball.

STEP 3: Use a red pen to draw 2 longer, vertical lines on the white circle. Draw dash marks using the red pen, down the long vertical lines.

STEP 4: Use a black marker to draw 4 long, vertical lines to make the finger sections on the mitt. Use a black marker to write: “My Dad is a Catch!” in the center of the mitt.

STEP 5: Use a glue stick to glue the white baseball over the index finger and thumb portion.

Card #6: Hooked on Daddy!

This adorable card is perfect for dads who love to go fishing – or not! Even if dad isn’t into fishing, you can bet he will still love this card!

How to make the best Hooked on Daddy! card

STEP 1: Use the lighter shade of blue as the backdrop. Cut waves out of the blue piece of paper and use a glue stick to stick it to the light shade of blue piece of paper.

STEP 2: Trace the child’s hands on a folded piece of orange construction paper. Cut the hands out and you’ll have two matching hands, which will be used as the fish.

STEP 3: Use the black marker to draw scales and faces on the fish and stick it onto the blue paper with a glue stick.

STEP 4: Cut a piece of string about 6-8 inches long. Wrap it around the popsicle stick and glue it face-down on the paper. Glue the string to the mouth of one of the fish.

STEP 5: Use a black marker to write “Hooked on Daddy!” on top and “Happy Father’s Day!” on the bottom.

Card #7: Dinosaur Father’s Day Card

To make this darling dinosaur card, use two shades of green construction paper or cardstock, scissors, a glue stick, and a black marker. I use cardstock as it’s a lot stronger than construction paper.

How to make the best Dinosaur Father’s Day Card

STEP 1: On 1-2 pieces of dark green paper, use a pen to trace your child’s hands. When you cut the hands out, be sure to leave a few inches of room as the dinosaur’s head and neck. If there isn’t enough paper, you can cut paper from another sheet.

STEP 2: Use a black marker to draw circles or spots near the wrist area, as shown in the post. Draw eyes and a mouth on both arms.

STEP 3: Use a glue stick to stick the arms and hands on a second sheet of green paper, making sure to leave room in the center.

STEP 4: In between both dinosaur heads, use a black marker to write: “Dad! You’re Dino-Mite!” Write: “Happy Father’s Day!” between the hands. If you like, write the kid’s name by each hand, ending their name with “-saurus.”
