1. Baby Jesus in a Manger—Nativity Craft

I knew when I made this that my kid would wake up the next day knowing who Baby Jesus is. I was excited to make this for that very reason. She loves playing with “baby’s heart.” I love being able to teach her about Baby Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. This nativity craft is really easy and you probably have the items in your house now to make this!

Equipment

  • 1 pair of scissors
  • tape

Materials
  

Instructions
 

  • Use brown and yellow crayons to make the hay on the paper plate. Use scissors to cut one-inch slits all around the paper plate.
  • Cut a head out of the brown card stock and cut an oval-shaped body out of the blue construction paper.
  • Cut a heart out of the red construction paper.
  • Use a black marker to draw eyes, a nose, mouth, and hair on the brown head. Tape the brown head over the top portion of the blue oval-shaped body. Use tape to stick the red heart on the blue body.
  • Tape the baby to the paper plate.
  • Tape the paper plate to a 1×1-foot piece of brown or beige card stock.
  • As an option, use the black marker to write “O Come Let Us Adore Him” on a red piece of paper and use tape to stick it to the top of the baby in a manger.

2. Paper Plate Angel

This was fun to do with my daughter when she was two years old. She always loves crafts that involve tracing her hands! It was also the perfect time to show her what an angel is.

Instructions
 

  • Use a paintbrush to paint the bottom of a paper plate with red paint. Let dry.
  • After the paint has dried, give your kid a red crayon and mark up the top side of the paper plate with the red crayon.
  • Use a pen or pencil to draw an outline of both hands, on red construction paper. With scissors, cut the outlined handprints out.
  • Cut a one-inch slit down the edge of the paper plate. Fold the paper plate on both sides to create “wings.” Seal with a staple on each wing. Staple the tip of the paper plate. Staple the base of each handprint to each “wing.”
  • Use a pen or pencil to draw a round circular shape on the brown card stock. Cut the shape out. With a black Sharpie marker, draw eyes, nose, mouth, and hair. Tape the head to the top of the angel.

Equipment

  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 1 paintbrush

Materials
  

  • 1 poster board white
  • acrylic or washable paint brown, yellow, and blue
  • 1 Sharpie marker black
  • tape

Instructions
 

  • Cut a 12-inch x 12-inch piece of white posterboard. With a paint brush, paint your kid’s hand brown and then immediately place it on the cut piece of poster board. Let dry.
  • Use a small paintbrush to paint yellow straw in the palm of the handprint. Let dry. With the remaining posterboard and scissors, cut a small circle and a white oval.
  • Paint the cut oval piece of posterboard blue; let dry.
  • Use a black Sharpie marker to draw eyes, nose, mouth, and hair on the circular piece of cut poster board. Use tape to stick the dried blue oval shape in the center of the palm, diagonally. Place a piece of tape on the back side of the head and place it over the top of the oval shaped blue piece.
