Cinnamon Twists are sweet and easy to make, and I love making them on the weekends for my family. I’ve been making these since junior high, in Mrs. Brown’s cooking class. Original credit goes to Mrs. Brown, although I did modify the recipe a bit. Rolled in butter, cinnamon, and sugar, these easy Cinnamon Twists will impress your guests and they’ll have no idea that they’re made from refrigerated biscuit dough! If you like cinnamon and sugar, you’ll love my Easy Puff Pastry Churro Sticks, Mini Cinnamon Rolls, and Coffee Cake recipes!

I have a ginormous sweet tooth and I’m trying to lose weight, so I don’t make these often. They’re an occasional treat, and my family—particularly my three-year-old daughter—LOVES anything with sugar, so I try to make them sparingly. I can’t wait to tell my girl one day that I started making this recipe in my eighth-grade cooking class at Corona Fundamental Intermediate School in Corona, California! I’m totally aging myself, but I’ve been making these for 31 years!

The best part about this recipe is that there are only four ingredients and it’s super SIMPLE to make! My Cinnamon Twists recipe contains biscuit dough such as Pillsbury, butter, sugar, and cinnamon, and is done in less than 25 minutes! Even the greenest baker could figure out how to make these! They go great with eggs and bacon for brunch or breakfast! I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Ingredients in Cinnamon Twists

Biscuit dough. The main ingredient, biscuit dough, is shockingly delicious as cinnamon rolls / cinnamon twists.

Salted butter. You can use unsalted butter, but if you do, add a dash of salt to your melted butter. Just a pinch of salt is all that’s needed.

Granulated sugar. Sugar gives the cinnamon twists the sweetness that makes them taste so insanely delicious. When combined with cinnamon and butter, a blissful flavor explosion is created that makes these twists absolutely delightful.

Cinnamon. Sugar and cinnamon are the best combo, especially in a cinnamon roll or cinnamon twist recipe! Cinnamon provides many health benefits, as it’s loaded with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, and powerful medicinal properties.

How to make the best Cinnamon Twists

STEP 1: Preheat your oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Open a 16-ounce refrigerated tube of jumbo biscuit dough. Twist the biscuit dough like a snake, then lie it flat and press down firmly, flattening it.

STEP 2: In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup sugar and one tablespoon cinnamon. Melt five tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan over low heat. If you use unsalted butter, add a dash of salt to the melted butter. Remove from heat and pour into a bowl.

STEP 3: Place the biscuit dough in the butter and roll it in the butter, coating it on all sides. Roll the biscuit in the cinnamonsugar mixture, fully immersing it in the mixture.

STEP 4: Place the dough on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-16 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
