I received a huge bag of this amazing vegan protein powder from Earthchimp! Earthchimp’s chocolate protein powder not only tastes super smooth (unlike those protein powders that can create lumps) but it’s made with probiotics, is non-GMO, dairy free, and is plant based. Made with organic ingredients and names I know and recognize, this is one of the healthiest and best tasting protein powders out there! Not only that but the texture is icy-meets-creamy and we just can’t get enough of this delicious healthy drink!

This dessert recipe is naturally gluten free, can be dairy free, vegetarian, with a vegan option, and is one of my family’s most requested dessert recipes! Although it may sound like a dessert, it also makes a wonderful protein-packed breakfast, post-workout drink, and healthy snack or meal. If you like healthy breakfasts that are dairy free, gluten free, and vegan, then you’ll want to make The Best Acai Bowl Recipe!

I have always been a huge chocolate and sweets lover and of course, have always loved making my own chocolate milkshakes, like this one. The fact that I can add protein powder and make this an actual “protein” milkshake really spoke to me and I think it’ll speak to you too – but only if you like chocolate. If you aren’t a chocolate fan, you can transform this into a vanilla milkshake by omitting the cocoa powder and using vanilla protein powder instead of chocolate. I love this recipe because it’s only for a single milkshake; however, it’s effortless to double, triple, or quadruple the recipe by selecting the desired amount in the recipe card below.

My insanely delicious healthy chocolate protein shake dessert contains bananas, protein powder, milk, cocoa powder, and ice cubes, and is done in about 3 minutes, making it one of the quickest dessert drinks around! When my sweet-tooth five-year-old asks me for a chocolate shake or ice cream, I love offering her this healthy chocolate shake recipe that she undoubtedly loves and is always asking for more. If you like milkshakes, then you’ll love my mouthwatering peach milkshake! We just can’t get enough of these delicious milkshakes, especially during the summertime (although, let’s be honest – we love eating milkshakes during all four seasons!).

Ingredients in Chocolate Protein Shake

Banana. Ripe bananas blend best as they’re softer.

Protein powder. Our go to protein powder is this Earthchimp chocolate protein powder. You can use vanilla protein powder if you like.

Milk. Use any type of milk you like. For vegan, use plant based milk like almond, cashew or oat milk.

Cocoa powder. Unsweetened cocoa powder is best in this recipe.

Ice cubes. Ice gives this chocolate protein shake a cold, icy texture.

How to make the best Chocolate Protein Shake

STEP 1: Add the banana, protein powder, milk, cocoa powder, and ice cubes to a blender. Blend until mixed and smooth.

STEP 2: Pour the mixture into a glass. Top with chocolate syrup and whipped cream.

STEP 3: If you make this recipe, don’t forget to leave a rating and comment!

Benefits of Bananas

Bananas may help moderate blood sugar levels after meals by regulating appetite. According to Healthline’s article, bananas have been shown to help digestion, may aid in weight loss, may support heart health, and are packed with antioxidants! Healthline’s post also points out that bananas may improve kidney function, support exercise recovery as they contain natural electrolytes, and could help you feel fuller longer.

Variations

Add 1-2 tablespoons of peanut butter or almond butter for more protein and texture. If you aren’t a chocolate fan, omit the cocoa powder and instead use vanilla protein powder. If you’re seeking a more chocolatey taste, double the amount of cocoa powder in this recipe.

Notes

I don’t recommend saving leftovers for later as this needs to be consumed immediately. If this is not eaten immediately, it will quickly melt and turn to liquid which is not the ideal texture.
