If you want an easy, nutrient-packed snack, then you must make these chili lime almonds. Made with fresh lime juice and in less than 10 minutes, these naturally gluten free and vegan almonds really satisfy any salt craving while also filling you up with their fiber and protein. My family loves having a healthy grab and go snack around the house and these delicious chili lime almonds are the perfect healthy bite. The fresh lime juice and olive oil combine with the chipotle chili peppers and salt to produce the perfect levels of tang, coating the almonds with an irresistible taste that you just can’t stop eating!

The reason I wanted to make these was due to the fact that I bought a huge bag of chili lime seasoned almonds at Costco a couple weekends back. I couldn’t believe how long the list of ingredients was! So many preservatives and additives that were completely unnecessary! I just had to make my own homemade version and after making my own, I was blown away by how fresher my version tasted! If you want to reduce the amount of spice, sub with chili powder. The chipotle chili peppers/powder is very spicy, but that’s how we like it.

My deliciously healthy and crunchy snack recipe contains extra virgin olive oil, almonds, chipotle chili peppers or powder, salt, fresh lime juice, and lime zest, and is done in less than 10 minutes! It’s such a great grab n’ go snack that is healthy for everyone who walks by to grab a bite after school, on the weekends, as well as at parties.

Ingredients in Chili Lime Almonds

Extra virgin olive oil. Use high quality extra virgin olive oil in this recipe.

Almonds. You can buy unsalted or salted almonds although I normally use unsalted.

Chipotle chili peppers. If you can’t find chipotle chili peppers, you can use the powder. You can buy fresh, canned, dried, or powder form of chipotle chili peppers.

Salt. Just a pinch of salt seasons the chili lime almonds.

Lime juice. Fresh lime juice from one lime coats the almonds.

Lime zest. Use the same lime you used as the lime juice.

How to make the best Chili Lime Almonds

STEP 1: Add the extra virgin olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat.

STEP 2: Toss in the almonds, chipotle chili peppers or powder, and salt and stir constantly for 2-3 minutes.

STEP 3: Remove from heat. Add the lime juice and mix well to coat. Transfer to a plate lined with a paper towel to absorb the oil. Let cool and then add the lime zest.

Health Benefits of Almonds

Almonds are one of the healthiest snacks out there and for valid reasons! Packed high in antioxidants, Healthline’s article reports that the powerful antioxidants in almonds are mainly in the brown layer of their skin. Further, it reports that antioxidants help protect the body from oxidative stress which can damage your cells and feed inflammation and disease such as cancer.

Almonds protect your body from oxidative damage and are among the best sources of vitamin E. Numerous studies have linked vitamin E with lower rates of cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. They’re also high in magnesium and are low in carbs and high in protein and fiber according to Healthline’s article.
