This is an easy and fun DIY Christmas craft that my husband usually creates annually! Two years ago when we first created this blog, he got to make one with our little two-year-old who was busy trying to grab every candy cane and all the tape—toddlers are curious and want to explore and discover so naturally, our two-year-old wanted to touch every single candy cane. She probably wanted to open them all and lick them too, but we have to draw the line somewhere! If you like this, then you’ll love my easy Popsicle Stick Ornaments, Easy Christ-Centered Christmas Crafts, Paper Plate Christmas Tree, Clothespin DIY Reindeer Ornaments, Salt Dough Handprint and Footprint Ornaments, Hot Cocoa Sensory Bin, and Handprint Keepsake Ornaments!

Toddlers love to help so we let her “help” as much as she possibly could as we built the wreath. This is a kid-friendly craft after all. Be forewarned that you need to use a lot of tape—and I mean A LOT of tape. If you try to hang it up without enough tape, it will fall down.

Pin this now to save for later!

As you’re assembling the wreath, make sure to tape the back all over so that it keeps the candy canes sticking together. We opted for clear Scotch tape so it will be easily hidden. When you’re done taping it, flip it over and tape a gold star in the center.

Items needed to make a Candy Cane Wreath

Candy canes. You can use any kind of candy canes. We used 22 candy canes total.

Tape. For the best results, use clear Scotch tape. You will use a lot of tape to keep the wreath together.

Gold star. We found gold star ornaments at our local Dollar Tree. You can put anything you like in the center but we chose these.

How to make the best Candy Cane Wreath

STEP 1: Before you start, grab a cup and place it in the center of the wreath.

STEP 2: Use tape to tape the candy canes facing each other, forming a heart shape.

STEP 3: Continue the process until the full circle of candy canes is complete. Use a lot of tape to keep it all together. By the end, you’ll have a perfectly round wreath.

STEP 4: Gently place a star or similarly sized object or ornament in the center of your wreath.

STEP 5: Carefully hang it up on your wall or door.
