Growing up, my mom made this easy two-ingredient recipe barbecue sauce and Lit’l Smokies grab n’ go appetizer every Christmas Eve. My cousins loved coming over and eating them with toothpicks, the same way I serve them today, in my own home! My husband eats these BBQ Lit’l Smokies over rice and on Hawaiian rolls, or regular rolls, and swears they’re the tastiest, most filling meal EVER! It takes less than five minutes to drop your ingredients into your crock pot. Let the ingredients warm up for two hours, and then serve with toothpicks or in bowls. They make the best holiday, potluck, and BBQ appetizer snack!
KitchenI’ve made this recipe with two and with three packages of Hillshire Farm Lit’l Smokies and both ways work but obviously, if you make them with three packages, you’ll have less barbecue sauce to go around – although, in our opinion, still plenty of sauce, but not as much as if you only used two packages of Lit’l Smokies.

These are already cooked, so technically we’re just warming them up with barbecue sauce rather than actually cooking the Lit’l Smokies. After an hour or two warming in your slow cooker or Crock Pot, they’re simmering hot and ready to eat.
