Looking for a fun way to feed the kids? Picky toddlers such as my own daughter adore these banana sushi rolls! Our three-year-old loves bananas (and sushi) so this banana sushi combo really puts a smile on her face! When she saw the peanut butter and Nutella inside, she wanted to just pick out those two but I had to show her how delicious they were in their entirety so I had a banana sushi roll in front of her. She quickly caught on and thought that what mama was doing was THE THING to do! This is a fantastic snack for picky preschoolers and even older children.

Ingredients in Banana Sushi

Banana. You’ll need a banana to make this banana sushi recipe.

Tortilla. Large flour tortillas work best for this recipe.

Peanut butter. You can use any type of nut butter you like; we like creamy Jif peanut butter.

Chocolate hazelnut spread. Also known as Nutella, chocolate-hazelnut spread combines with peanut butter to produce a sweet and creamy taste.

How to make the best Banana Sushi

STEP 1: Lay a flour tortilla flat and spoon the peanut butter and chocolate hazelnut spread evenly over the tortilla. Place a banana in the center.

STEP 2: Roll the tortilla up. Cut into one-inch pieces.

Health Benefits of Bananas

Bananas are native to Southeast Asia and grow in warm climates, making them available worldwide. According to Healthline’s article, bananas contain several essential nutrients and can help with weight loss, digestion, and heart health.

Packed with fiber and antioxidants, bananas are almost exclusively made of water and carbs. As bananas ripen, the fiber content drops. They’re rich in soluble fiber and contain a resistant starch, which is not absorbed by the body. Additionally, bananas help regulate your appetite by slowing the emptying of your stomach.

Despite the higher carb content, bananas will not spike the blood sugar in healthy people. Diabetics can enjoy bananas, but it’s not recommended to eat a large amount in one sitting.
