If you’ve never tried baked spaghetti, you’re missing out! It’s basically spaghetti topped with melted cheese, but to a spaghetti lover like my husband, one serving just wasn’t enough! My recipe uses spaghetti noodles, extra virgin olive oil, a yellow onion, freshly chopped garlic, ground beef, seasonings, crushed tomatoes, freshly grated mozzarella and parmesan cheese, and fresh parsley. My kid and husband ask me to make this ALL THE TIME as they are huge pasta and spaghetti lovers – actually, any type of Italian food – especially my Creamy Spaghetti Carbonara – is their favorite!

Winter is here and carbs and comfort food are all I want lately! Noodles with simmered, seasoned ground beef, combined with lots of cheese and tomato sauce—just what I needed! We live in northern Utah and winters are quite frigid over here. Pair it with some fresh garlic bread for the ultimate splurge! This makes such a fantastic family comfort meal.

How to make the best Baked Spaghetti

STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F/180 degrees C. Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.

STEP 2: Cook the spaghetti according to the package directions until al dente. Strain the noodles and set aside.

STEP 3: Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium, heat the oil and add the onions. Cook until translucent—about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant. Cook for about a minute or two longer. Add the ground beef and use a wooden spoon to break it up as it cooks. Add the salt, pepper, and Italian seasonings and cook until no pink remains—about 8 minutes. Drain the fat and return to the pan.

STEP 4: Add the crushed tomatoes to the ground beef mixture. Add the oregano and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

STEP 5: Toss the mixture with the spaghetti and mix thoroughly. Transfer to the prepared baking dish. Top with the grated mozzarella and Parmesan. Sprinkle the parsley on top.

STEP 6: Bake until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 20-22 minutes.
