Items needed to make Clothespin Reindeer DIY Ornaments

Scissors. Grab a pair of scissors; if kids are making this craft, be sure to have kid friendly or toddler scissors.

Hot glue gun. A hot glue gun and hot glue sticks will be needed to make this craft.

Clothespin. The clothespin makes up the reindeer’s body.

Black marker. We like to use this black Sharpie marker but any black marker will probably work.

Craft eyeballs. Craft eyeballs are needed for the reindeer’s eyes.

Red paint. We like this red acrylic paint best.

Cotton swab. A cotton swab such as a Q-tip is needed to make the red nose.

Pipe cleaner. Brown or beige pipe cleaners make the bendiest reindeer antlers.

Pen or pencil. You’ll need a pen or pencil to twist the pipe cleaners around.

Ribbon. A piece of thin red ribbon is needed to tie around the reindeer’s neck. You can use any color ribbon you like.

My easy step-by-step tutorial walks you through how to make a Clothespin Reindeer DIY Ornament – even the non-craftiest person can make this craft!

How to make the best Clothespin Reindeer DIY Ornaments

STEP 1: Use a black Sharpie marker and a straight edge such as a ruler or edge of paper to draw a line, lengthwise, starting at the bottom of the clothespin, up to where the springs end. Use the same black marker to shade in the bottom ¼-inch of the clothespin.

STEP 2: Use the hot glue gun and glue two plastic eyeballs about ¼ inch from the top of the clothespin. With a cotton swab and red paint, dab or swirl a circle. Let dry.

STEP 3: With scissors, cut a pipe cleaner in half. Take one half and use a pen or pencil to twist the pipe cleaner around. Repeat with the other half of the pipe cleaner. Open the clothespin and close it to clench down on the pipe cleaners. Seal with hot glue.

STEP 4: Cut a piece of red ribbon and tie it in a knot around the clothespin.
