This Patriotic Cheese Dip displays the American flag and once you scoop a tortilla chip into the flag, you’ll quickly learn that it’s filled with a delicious cheese and salsa dip! This heavenly festive flag dip is the perfect appetizer dip to bring to a Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or a Labor Day barbecue! This dip pairs wonderfully with my insanely delicious Air Fryer Tortilla Chips, Air Fryer Pita Chips, and guacamole appetizer recipes!

You may have noticed that from a distance, it looks almost exactly like the American flag! It’s easy to make and is a total crowd pleaser. You can leave the tomatoes and olives off for a standard cheese dip that makes the perfect game day appetizer!

I personally don’t need an excuse to make this dip as it’s insanely delicious! You can use tortilla chips with the dip. You can also use it in a wrap as the “dressing” or sauce. We’ve had it on Ritz and saltine crackers too and all combinations are rather tasty. Dips are one of my favorite things to eat and this one is divine! If you’re looking for spicy and you’re not feeding children, add a couple dashes cayenne pepper to the cream cheese mixture.

Pin this now to save for later!

Patriotic Cheese Dip is the best cold cheese appetizer and contains cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, crushed red pepper, pepper, salsa, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and sliced black olives, and only takes 10 minutes to make! It’s one of the easiest and quickest cold cheese appetizer recipes.

How to make the best Patriotic Cheese Dip

STEP 1: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

STEP 2: Use a hand mixer to blend the softened cream cheese with the cup sour cream (or plain Greek yogurt), and mayo. Use a spoon to stir in the grated cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, crushed red pepper, and pepper.

STEP 3: Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture into the prepared dish and use a rubber spatula or large spoon to flatten. Add the strained salsa on top and spread evenly (you can use any type of salsa; we use mild because of our toddler). Sprinkle the seven cups mozzarella on top, covering all salsa. With the top of each tomato facing left, form a bottom row of tomatoes, as shown in this post.

STEP 4: Continue to line up the cherry tomatoes to form flag stripes. As shown in this post, place the black olives (here is our favorite sliced black olives!) towards the top left, in a small square. Let the cheese dip refrigerate for at least one hour for the best flavor.

Low Carb & Protein Packed Dish

With only 4.6 net carbs per serving, this is a low carb dish that is also naturally gluten free. Each serving contains 20 grams of protein, making it one of the most protein packed cheese appetizer recipes out there! Pair it with cucumbers, olives, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, snow peas, carrots, bell pepper strips, and or celery for low carb or keto combinations. You can also buy or make your own low carb tortilla chips by baking low carb tortillas in the oven or air fryer.
