Bang Bang sauce is Bonefish Grill’s signature sweet and spicy sauce that they drizzle over their popular Bang Bang Shrimp recipe! I had to try it with chicken and I must admit, this is one of the tastiest chicken dishes I HAVE EVER HAD! My husband, toddler, and I devoured this delicious dish and I’ve cooked it a few times since! My family is just obsessed with this dinner recipe and I get asked to cook this often. If you like easy and quick chicken breast recipes, then you'll love my Chicken Wraps with Honey-Peanut Sauce recipe!
If you haven’t tried my Bang Bang Tofu or my Bang Bang Shrimp Bowls, I use the same Bang Bang sauce in both recipes. The Bang Bang sauce can be drizzled over steak, tofu, or used as a salad dressing. It’s a versatile sauce that complements many different dishes and is ready in ONLY 20 MINUTES, making it the perfect busy weeknight dinner!
What is Bang Bang Sauce?
It’s a sweet and spicy sauce with flavor and heat. Bang Bang sauce is made of mayo, sriracha, rice vinegar, granulated sugar, and salt. If you want your Bang Bang sauce to be mild, use less sriracha sauce as that is what gives the sauce the heat.
Healthier Variations
If you don’t feel like frying, then grill the chicken on your outdoor grill or in the oven. If you grill them, heat the grill over high and cook for about 8-9 minutes on each side.
You can also bake the chicken. If baking the chicken, rub one tablespoon olive oil over the chicken breasts and bake them on a foil-lined baking sheet, in the oven, at 450 degrees F for 20-25 minutes.
When the chicken is done, let it cool. Chop or slice the chicken breasts and drizzle Bang Bang sauce over the top. Serve warm.
How to make the best Bang Bang Chicken
STEP 1: To make the sauce, mix the mayo, sriracha, vinegar, sugar, and salt until creamy and smooth.
STEP 2: Whisk the buttermilk, flour, cornstarch, egg, salt, and pepper until well incorporated.
STEP 3: Add oil to a deep pot and heat over medium-high heat.
STEP 4: Coat each piece of chicken, one at a time, in the buttermilk mixture. Dredge each piece of chicken in the panko then add it to the oil. When the chicken turns golden brown, remove them from the oil.
STEP 5: Drizzle the Bang Bang sauce over the chicken and sprinkle with parsley. You don’t have to sprinkle with parsley, but it’s such a nice finishing touch and it tastes heavenly on top of the chicken!
