Mouthwatering dairy-free peanut chicken wraps are Asian influenced with a tasty and addicting honey-peanut sauce and zesty chicken, rolled up into a crunchy wrap! Light and refreshing, peanut chicken wraps make the perfect healthy summer lunch or dinner! Guests love them and they’re easy to grab and go, making them a wonderful party appetizer! You don’t have to make the peanut sauce from scratch, per the recipe, if you’re short on time. Just buy peanut sauce pre-made at the grocery store if you prefer. The homemade sauce tastes much better, but the peanut sauce at the store will work.

If you’re in a time crunch, you can use store-bought peanut sauce although the flavors won’t be as fresh and robust as they would be had you made your own honey-peanut sauce; however, life gets busy and just know you can still make this mouthwatering recipe with store-bought peanut sauce if in a crunch.

Ingredients in Chicken Wraps with Honey-Peanut Sauce

Coleslaw mix. Coleslaw mix (or cabbage) provides numerous health benefits in addition to a crunchy texture.

Carrots. Carrots are packed with vitamin A, antioxidants, and offer a delicious texture in combination with the other ingredients.

Roasted peanuts. Roasted peanuts are salty and crunchy and really elevates the flavors of this wrap recipe.

Cilantro. According to Dr. Axe’s article, cilantro protects the body against oxidative stress which is linked to many diseases including Alzheimer’s, arthritis, macular degeneration, and cancer, to name a few. Cilantro provides a vibrant color and delicious flavor in this recipe.

Chicken breasts. If you don’t feel like cooking chicken, you can use rotisserie chicken.

Tortillas. Large flour tortillas work best in this recipe.

Extra virgin olive oil. Make sure to use high quality extra virgin olive oil as it offers the best taste in this recipe.

Peanut butter. Creamy peanut butter forms the base of the honey-peanut sauce.

Garlic. Garlic is fragrant, aromatic, and provides a delicious flavor and offers many benefits.

Ginger. Freshly grated ginger works best.

Rice vinegar. Rice vinegar adds flavor to the honey-peanut sauce.

Soy sauce. Soy sauce or low-sodium soy sauce is an integral part of the sauce.

Honey. Honey blends with the other sauce ingredients to produce a sweet flavor and thick texture.

Sesame oil. Toasted sesame oil or sesame oil provides health benefits as well as taste.

Sriracha. Sriracha adds a kick to this recipe.

Crushed red pepper. Crushed red pepper helps season the chicken wraps.

How to make the best Chicken Wraps with Honey-Peanut Sauce

STEP 1: Whisk the peanut sauce ingredients (extra virgin olive oil, peanut butter, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, sriracha, and crushed red pepper) in a medium bowl.

STEP 2: In a large bowl, add the coleslaw mix, carrots, peanuts, and cilantro. Stir in the peanut sauce and let the mixture set while the chicken and tortillas are prepared. Letting the coleslaw and carrots absorb the peanut sauce ingredients will make the sauce taste more flavorful.

STEP 3: To warm the tortillas, heat a frying pan over high heat. Place each tortilla on the pan for one to two minutes per side.

STEP 4: Evenly spread the chicken and coleslaw mixture on the tortillas. To roll, place the shorter side of the wrap or tortilla toward you. Placing both hands on the wrap, and folding in both sides, tightly roll the wrap. If necessary, use toothpicks.

  • 2 c coleslaw mix
  • 2 carrots grated (or 1 c shredded)
  • ¼ c roasted peanuts
  • ½ c cilantro chopped
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts cooked and chopped
  • 6 flour tortillas

Peanut Sauce

Instructions
 

  • Whisk the peanut sauce ingredients, which include extra virgin olive oil, creamy peanut butter, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, sriracha, and crushed red pepper in a medium bowl.
  • In a large bowl, add the coleslaw mix, carrots, peanuts, and cilantro. Stir in the peanut sauce and let the mixture rest while the chicken and tortillas are prepared. Letting the coleslaw and carrots absorb the peanut sauce ingredients will make the flavors richer and will taste much better.
  • To heat the tortillas, heat a frying pan over high heat. Place each tortilla on the pan for 1-2 minutes per side.
  • Evenly spread the chicken and coleslaw mixture among the tortillas. To roll, place the shorter side of the wrap towards you. Placing both hands on the wrap, and folding in both sides, tightly roll the wrap. If you need to, use toothpicks to keep the wraps together.
