Cue the music to: ...”In SUMMERRRRRR!” You likely know about the Disney movie Frozen if you’re reading this. She, like numerous other two-, three-, four-, and five-year-old girls, is utterly obsessed with Frozen and all the characters in it—specifically the charismatic snowman, Olaf. If you like kid friendly snacks like this (or need easy kid's birthday party dessert recipe ideas), then you'll adore my Rock Candy, Rainbow Popsicles, Unicorn Poop Cookies, Teddy on the Beach Cupcakes, Teddy Driving Race Cars Chocolate Candy Snack, and Homemade Strawberry Fruit Roll-Ups recipes!

My daughter’s third birthday is today, so I made her an Olaf-in-Water Treat yesterday as an early gift! What more does a three-year-old want besides a sugar-induced Olaf floating in a sugar pool of “water?” It also completely reminds me of Olaf in the movie Frozen, singing “In summerrrrrrrrrr!” at the top of his lungs while daydreaming about lying on a warm beach in the warm ocean, while he’s stuck in the snowy cold winter with Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Sven. Your kids can experience a piece of the Kingdom of Arendelle as they bite away at this adorably icy snack!

Pin this now to save for later!

See the photos of her enjoying every moment of her bowl of marshmallows, blue JELLO, and her fave—Olaf! After she ate the small bowl of Olaf in Water, she immediately asked for more. It was a very successful DIY Olaf kid’s food idea! It is a fantastic treat idea for an Olaf-themed kid’s birthday party!

This easy and fun kid’s dessert recipe contains blue gelatin, marshmallows and mini marshmallows, black writing gel, orange decorating icing, a #3 decorating tip, and parasol pick, and takes less than 15 minutes to make!

Who is Olaf?

Olaf is one of the major characters in the Disney movie, Frozen. According to Disney's post, Olaf is an enchanted snowman made of marshmallow-like pieces that give him the ability to reassemble his body, and if you've seen Frozen or Frozen II, he's constantly losing pieces of his body, giving way to comical aspects of the films. Olaf always expresses his love for all things warm and summery, including the sunshine and the heat, which is ironic being that he will melt away in such warm weather.

Not only do Elsa and Anna love this adorable and benevolent snowman, but he gives warm hugs, is fun to sing along with, and is full of tricks and surprises (no wonder kids love this darling snowman!). I really hope there will eventually be a Frozen III so we can watch one more movie with cute Olaf.

Ingredients in Olaf-in-Water Treat

Blue raspberry gelatin. We like Starburst blue raspberry gelatin best although any blue gelatin will work.

Marshmallows. You’ll want to use large Jet-Puffed marshmallows in this recipe.

Mini marshmallows. Make sure to grab some mini marshmallows to make this recipe.

Black writing gel. We like this black writing gel.

Orange decorating icing. Orange decorating icing is needed to make the carrot nose.

Decorating tip. You’ll need a #3 decorating tip.

Parasol pick. Parasol picks make the umbrella.

How to make the best Olaf-in-Water Treat

STEP 1: Prepare the gelatin according to package directions.

STEP 2: When ready to serve, decorate with the marshmallows as depicted in the post.

STEP 3: Use black writing gel to draw the eyes, mouth, buttons, arms, and hair. Draw the nose with the #3 decorating tip and orange icing.

STEP 4: Slightly open a parasol pick and poke it into one of the arms.

STEP 5: If you make this recipe, don’t forget to leave a rating and comment!

Leftovers

These taste best when eaten right when they're made although if you have leftovers, you can cover them with plastic wrap or foil and store them in the fridge for up to a few hours. If you plan to store these in the fridge before serving, make sure to hold off on decorating with black writing gel and orange icing until you're ready to serve. If you decorate the marshmallows and then put them back in the fridge the icing will become runny and will not stay intact.
